Welcome August! - Here we have a list of recommendations for the best beaches in and around Barcelona!
We are in August! It's officially the holiday month and we've been researching the best beaches in town!
We couldn't start the list of best beaches in Barcelona with any other than Barceloneta Beach!
Barceloneta is the most famous and oldest beach in the Catalan capital.
With more than a kilometer of golden sand and a promenade full of restaurants, you will not lack entertainment and will be pleased to spend a whole day at the beach. Even at night, because there is a great offer of nightlife in the neighborhood.
Barceloneta has all kinds of amenities: showers, toilets, volleyball nets, ping pong tables, playgrounds and even a beach library. For all that, it is the favorite beach of tourists and is always full of people. It can be easily accessed by metro, getting off at the Ciutadella or Barceloneta stops.
Unlike other beaches in Barcelona, Barceloneta has an area for disabled people. Similarly, it offers parasol and sun lounger rental services, restaurants, WiFi, showers, watchtowers, children's play area, bins, bathrooms and much more.
Somorrostro (among our favorite beaches in Barcelona for its history)
Somorrostro was one of the most popular neighborhoods during the twentieth century. It is currently known for hosting one of the best beaches in the region.
The Somorrostro beach is located between the Breakwater of Gas and the Olympic Port, a place where more than 15,000 people lived in precarious conditions, among which the famous flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya stands out.
Sant Miquel Beach
Described as a central and very fun place, the beach of Sant Miquel pays homage to the church Sant Miquel del Port.
It is located in the middle of the beaches of Sant Sebastià and La Barceloneta with an extension of sand of more than 400 meters.
Sant Miquel is a beach with a large influx of people, however, it stands out for its Blue Flag, a distinction that rewards beaches thatprovide a series of basic services of attention to the public, such as red cross and soccorrismo.
Garraf
Garraf is among the best beaches in Barcelona to get away from large urban centers. This small town with just 500 inhabitants is only half an hour by train from the center of Barcelona. But it gives the feeling of having gone much further, because the beach is surrounded by green mountains. The wooden huts painted on the sand give it an even more special touch. Formerly fishermen used them to store their tools, but now they are simply decorative.
Nova Icària Beach
Nova Icària beach is one of those beaches in Barcelona that help us clear our minds, its low waves and its infinite horizon of celestial waters have allowed it to be considered one of the quietest things in the city.
Calella
Calella is one of the favorite summer resorts of the people of Barcelona. Its beach is wide and with all the comforts. In addition, the city center is very lively: there are shops, restaurants and also a wide range of nightlife. Like the previous beaches, Calella can be reached with the R1 train line.
Sant Pol de Mar
They say that the good is made to wait. The beaches of Sant Pol de Mar are very high in our ranking of Barcelona beaches. Despite being considered urban, they have a quiet atmosphere without a large promenade that the one or a thousand restaurants piled up in the sand. In a way, they retain the typical charm of fishing villages. If you want to see a postcard picture, go to the beach of Las Barcas. There you will find beautiful boats on the sand.
In WRC we love to explore the beaches of Barcelona and investigate the best places to be able to recommend to our clients wonderful places with a lot of charm!. I hope you enjoyed this blog and that you enjoy the summer to the fullest! Happy Vacations!
